Nicholas Dorr-Hanss
Nick is a Senior at Fairport High School. He was inducted into the
National Honor Society, the German National Honor Society and the
Math Honor Society and has received numerous honors, awards and
recognitions both academically and for his volunteering efforts. He
currently works about 15 hours a week as a cashier or at the
Customer Service Desk at Wegmans. Nick has been accepted at
several colleges and hopes to attend SUNY Geneseo, majoring in
Communications and Business Administration this Fall.
Rachel Sweeney
Rachel is also a Senior at Fairport High School. She was inducted
into the National Honor Society, the French National Honor Society
and has received the Old English “F” Award and Hands of Christ
Award. She is involved in the yearbook club, volunteers for many
church and humanitarian projects while babysitting and working at
the Thomas Creek Ice Arena. Rachel has been accepted to several
universities throughout the northeast but is undecided on which one
will best serve her planned double major in Computer Science and
Criminal Justice.
2010-2011 Academic Scholarship Winners:
All applicants are judged on academic achievement in school and
personal characteristics by an independent Panel of college and/or high school educators.
No members of the Electrical Association are permitted to serve on the panel.
The association wishes to thank all of those who put forth the effort to apply. We had many
outstanding candidates and, as always, are sorry that we cannot present the award to all of them.
2010-2011 School-To-Work Scholarship Winners:
Nelson George
Nelson is Senior at Alexander Central School and enrolled in the
Genesee Valley BOCES Building Trades Program, specializing in
Electrical, Plumbing & Heating. He is a member of Student Council
and works at Country Cottage Crafts in Darien doing everything from
mowing lawns to plumbing repairs and running new wiring for new
electrical circuits. Nelson plans to enlist in the Army to continue his
electrical education by defusing and detonating bombs.
Casey Parnell
Casey is Senior at Caledonia-Mumford High School and is also
enrolled in the Genesee Valley BOCES Building Trades Program,
specializing in Electrical, Plumbing & Heating. He was inducted to
the National Honor Society, is a member of the National Technical
Honor Society and achieved High Honor Roll at the Career and
Technical Center. He participates in Varsity Football, Varsity Track
and Ski Club and works both before and after school at Callan Farms
when he and another BOCES student built a barn with very little
supervision. Casey has been accepted in the Electrical Program
at Alfred State College where he plans to continue in the Business
Program. His dream is to someday own his own Commercial
Electrical company.

The purpose of the Electrical Association of Rochester (EAR) is to
educate the community on the safe and efficient use of electricity
and technology as well as to promote the common interests of the
electrical industry in the exchange of information.
